Sarah Fakhri

Production and Development Manager

Sarah Fakhri grew up in the heart of a farming family in Auvergne, France, while remaining deeply connected to her paternal family roots in Fez, Morocco. Passionate about participatory creation, she focused her university studies on sociology, anthropology and political science, with a strong interest in the place of artists in society.

After gaining a master's degree in the socio-anthropology of local development at Lyon 2 University, she specialised in managing international cultural projects and establishments. She was given the opportunity to continue her studies at the University of Maynooth, Ireland, and to coordinate a European festival in the gardens of Athens, in collaboration with the Institut français de Grèce.

She concluded her university studies by writing a thesis on “A common history: traces and fabrications of shared memories in participatory creations”, in association with three artistic collectives based in Lyon.

Following on from this work, she co-founded with director Géraldine Bénichou the Premières Rencontres des Arts Participatifs, in partnership with the CCO La Rayonne (Villeurbanne) and the MJC Laennec Mermoz (Lyon), bringing together over 37 artists and 250 non-professional participants.

She then joined the team at the Théâtre de la Poudrerie in Sevran - a recognised “art en territoire” venue - as a production manager, where she supported a number of companies in creating plays that were then performed in the houses of local people.

At the same time, she began training as an actress at the École Auvray-Nauroy, where she has been developing her artistic projects for the last two years.

She  joined the Kaimera team with a remit to support the company's local development in Saint-Denis, the Île-de-France region and nationwide.
