Rosebell Kagumire
Pan-african Feminist Writer and Media Specialist
Rosebell Kagumire (She/Her) is a pan-African feminist writer and activist, and editor at African Feminism. She's a columnist at the New Internationalist Magazine. She works at the intersection of media, gender and development. In 2020 she co-edited a book: Challenging Patriarchy: The Role of Patriarchy in the Roll-Back of Democracy. Rosebell is founding member of the African Feminist Collective on Feminist Informed Policies and a council member at the Nalafem Collective. Rosebell was recognized by Avance Media as one of the100 Most Influential Women in Africa for 2021 edition. She was honored with the Anna Guèye 2018 award for her contribution to digital democracy, justice and equality on the African continent by Africtivistes, a network of African activists for democracy. She holds a Masters degree in Media, Peace and Conflict Studies from the UN-mandated University of Peace in Costa Rica. She has done short term studies in nonviolent conflict at the Fletcher School and Global Leadership and Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School. Her undergraduate degree is in Mass Communication from Makerere University, Uganda.
