Jonathan Hogstad
Trade Unionist & Strategic Researcher
Jonathan Hogstad is a New York-based trade unionist and strategic researcher. As the research coordinator for Service Employees International Union Local 32BJ’s apartment and fast food worker campaigns, he helps create disciplined strategies for workers to move their employers to provide family-sustaining wages and benefits. Previously, he has worked with Service Employees International Union on campaigns related to the financial sector and as the research coordinator for ROC-United, a national restaurant worker organization.
In addition to his full time job in labor, he is a DJ, producer, bassist, and visual projection artist. As one half of the Hogstad Brothers, he creates immersive dance environments by live-mixing amazing music with dancer-interactive, beautiful, psychedelic projections utilizing video samples and real-time 3D data from custom-hacked infrared depth cameras. He is also producer and bassist for the electro-funk-soul band Flyer Learning.
Jonathan holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University S.I.P.A.
